Looking for a father son adventure....Syria, Madagascar or an African safari?

My father and I are looking to go on the adventure of a lifetime, for 2-4 weeks. It'll just be the two of us and we're looking to be camping or at least over-landing. Our interests are the natural world, archaeology and Britain's colonial past.

We've whittled the choice down to the three destinations above. Which should we look into further, in your opinion? I am 22 and have quite a lot of travel experience, my father is 60 and not in bad shape, but his back does goive him a bit of gip. He's too much of an old warhorse to let that stop him though!

Thanks.

  1. Go to the Serengeti Safari Park Tanzania. Picture this,

You're floating along the sky early in the morning in a hot air balloon while gazing at the animals in their natural habitat then as you go futher in to the bush you drop down in the balloon for a fully prepared "champagne breakfast"

You can stay in luxury lodges and have a fully experienced guides give you a tour you will not forget in a hurry :)

Google the place to find out more.

  2. sounds alright on paper/after the first day your dad will wish he was in a good hotel, with good food ,sunshine and a book to read.

keep the bonding for the movies

  3. I would say go to the Sahara desert with a four by four. It will scare you to death but it is worth it. Plus north africa is an amazing place.

  4. Syria is not that safe, Madagasgar has lost much of its rainforest so I would suggest an African safari. If you would like a non-malarial safari park the excellent Madikwe on the south African/Botswana border is great. The best lodge there is the Mateya lodge....awesome. I was there in March.

or choose a lodge of your own..
