Looking for a first Job? How do you go about this?

Question

I am a recent high school graduate. And I am currently trying to find a job. (I will be attending NYU next yr) . I was thinking in maybe a bank?

but How do you go about this process??? This whole thing from searching for jobs , showing interest, applying, etc.

It will be my first job. I need to know eeeverything.lol???

First, if your interest is with dealing with money and the public, I would suggest going from bank to bank, and have an initial meeting with the manager. Ask him about positions that he would consider hiring in if the position is not advertised, that shows you are serious. Remember mommy and daddys saying "be polite and use your manners" Emphasize your strenghts during this meeting and tell him you would appreciate him hiring you to get experience before hand going to college. Ask for an application to show that you are seriously considering it during this meeting.

I must emphasize this: since you will be attending a college next year, that is a severe down fall to you. Not many people are willing to train a person for such a short period of time unless they are really crunched. Do not tell them you are looking at other places, because he will pass the burden (you, unfortunately) to the next guy. It will be very difficult for you (I think) to get a job unless you do a kick *** job with that initial meeting.

If they give you an application, take it home to fill out. That way you can decide when all of your potentail hirers have met you and dicipher how they reacted. Were they excited to hear from you or did you feel out of place and rushed out of the office?

This kind of situation is really hard to describe in words, because everyone is different, and I dont know the personalities of you or the people you talk too. Go with your gut instinct and tell the truth. That method will get you through much more than a job search.
