Question:

Looking for a flash camcorder

Me and my friends are starting to become interested in making our own movies for fun and youtube and are sick of using a crappy enV to record these. I also would like it for filming various outdoor activities(survivorman anyone?). Im looking for a pure flash card memory camcorder with

-good zoom

-internal mic and a port for external mic

-night vision(it seems like not many camcorders have this feature)

-and possibly good stills(not completely necessary)

Any help would be appreciated :)

  1. The cheapest camcorders with a mic jack worth spending your money on are the Canon ZR800, ZR900 and ZR930. They do not have manual audio control, but this is only a requirements if you want to cover REALLY LOUD or really low audio.

Sony makes the camcorders with a built-in infrared (IR) emitter for zero-light video capture (it is green and white and makes your eyes look very strange). The cheapest Sony camcorder with a mic jack and "SuperNightShot" mode are the HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC9. They have manual audio control, too.

  2. The Canon Vixia HF100 is Amazon's top-selling HD video camera for a good reason. It has everything you listed. 12x zoom, night vision, simultaneous photo capture, mic port and plus, of course, it's HD and has image stabilization. It's running $650 now on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-HF100-Defini...
