I am planning on hiking/climbing up to the top of the Grosses Wiesbachhorn (near the Grossglockner) by way of the Kaindlgrat. This should be a relatively straightforward route, but the chimney above the Heinrich Schwaiger Haus concerns me a bit since my partner has a sore left arm. Does anyone have any experience with it?
In case not, and also because of the weather, I'm looking for a backup plan. What's the closest to Vienna, technically easy high glacier walk that goes to an interesting summit (excluding the Dachstein, Grossvenediger, Grossglockner, and Wildspitze). It has to be doable on Saturday (we'll drive to the base Friday night) since the weather is forecast to deteriorate on Sunday. A description or route details, more than just a name, would be appreciated.
