"400 year old wizard or necromancer returned from the dead to take over the world, but gets thwarted by a bunch of p*****n kids"

* * *

I have asked this before, but I am still not happy with my working title "The Ancient Evil".

The reason for this is that in the third book in the series, the heroes come up against an even more ancient one.

I am writing a series and this needed title is for book one which is still not submitted to an agent.

The evil wizard in book.1 is (only) 400 years old. The one in the more recent book is thousands...

So changing the name to "Not-Nearly-So-Ancient-An-Evil-As-We-Fir... is just not going to cut it.

Ok, The one I need to rename: Minions of the 400 y.o. wizard keep causing problems throughout the book. The heroes only come up against the wizard, himself, in the very last chapter. The wizard is/was a necromancer who used necromancy to pass into a wraith form 400 years ago. In present day, he kills and takes over the body of a living person and begins to plan all manner of evil things.

The heroes find out his secret, so he needs to kill them -at first sending his minions, but later deciding to handle it himself.

Hope that's enough of it to get the point of the story across without giving too much away.

I am thinking something that gets across at least part of the idea of

"400 year old wizard or necromancer returned from the dead to take over the world, but gets thwarted by a bunch of p*****n kids", but in only a couple or few words.

Aimed at Middle Grade through Young Adult.

  1. Trial of the Ages

  2. Uhm,  "Life Is Not Enough"

or conversely,  "Death Is Not Enough"

I think I can do better than that...  hmmm (thinking)

p*****n, huh? (Wondering how they could defeat a 400 year old necromancer...)  Gee, nothing else is coming to me...

Oh, how about "The Sick and the Dead" (a play on the Quick and the Dead -but the necromancer is a "sicko"...

or a play on "The Good Die Young" ==>  "The Bad Die Old"?

    Naw, that isn't any good...

Wraith takes over body...  "A Time For Dying"

    That sounds pretty good.

    >Just Googled it --Bummer! One print-on-demand book, as well as two movies and an episode of an old TV series (1953) I never heard of.  Too bad, I liked that title.  Well, maybe something similar?
