I consider myself to be quite computer literate, but I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to hardware side of things. I'm rubbish at the techno babble and what it means.

I am looking to take a CompITA A+ early next year and need to bush up on this stuff.

  1. my local libiary has several "older "books on building/maintaning computers, for the most part not much has changen in a PC sence the 486 chip was introduced. Plll has about the same stuff as the hottest dual core has ie.RAM sticks to exchange ,build in video ,ethernet ,sound,CPU,PCI slots ,start with a lib book then compair it to what is in your computer even stuff like hard drive only thing "new" is a SATA drive most of those computers still have an IDA plug .

  2. http://www.amazon.com/Specializations-Ce...

That ones not bad, I used the previous edition (this was before the test had changed). Though this is a different one, they are pretty decent. But read and understand it. I loaned a friend the same book I had and he failed.
