Palace Resorts, in my opinion, are the best family oriented resorts.  The Moon Palace should have their water playground completed this fall.  It is a huge - mega huge - resort about 10 minutes off the hotel zone.  If you prefer the hotel zone, the Beach Palace is newly renovated.  It is a lot smaller.  If you don't want all-inclusive, the Marriott Casa Magna is very nice.  The Riu's (either one) in Cancun are in the midst of everything and very good all-inclusives.  I prefer to be away from the crowds!  The bus system is affordable and safe as long as you are going up and down the blvd.  And if you do stay at a Palace Resort, the prices in their gift shop are better than the prices in the shops and you don't have to deal with the bartering (not one of my favorite pass times).

Well we stay a bit south of Cancun in the Riveria Maya area.  The resort we stay at is the Iberostar Del Mar. At this resort there are 4 resorts that you may have access to depending which one you stay at. There is tons of fun stuff to there for kids of all ages  But you can also try getting information on the resorts at tripadvisor.com
