My cousing from Japan, who is an avid surfer, is visiting me in Cali. I live hear the beaches and he wants to go surf at Huntington Beach "Surf City" CA.

I was wondering what would be the best spot for what times are surfers allowed out?

Thanks.

  1. just go to the beach, im not sure of a particular spot but every time I've been there the waves have been good at any spot I went to. another good tip would be to look where all the surfers are....if there aren't any surfers its probably not that good, but if theres alot you've found your spot

  2. Definitely southside of the pier! In the morning at like 6 is when the waves are bigger and there's not so much wind. About noon the wind starts to pick up and the surf stinks. Sunset is nice too but I prefer to go out before noon.

  3. theres some pretty good surf southside of huntington pier. the last few days have been choppy though but still surfable 4-5ft conditions with occasional overhead surf. you can go out and surf anytime over here...pretty much from sunrise to sunset. in the early mornings youll get the bigger surf which will eventually die down as the afternoon goes by. i always check this site "surfline.com" before heading out. itll save u a drive if conditions are poor.
