  1. I've worked on and around pool tables for quite some time. in most cases the cost of having the used table taken apart, moved and put back together added to the price of the table usually comes close to the price of a brand new table, that comes with new accessories and sometimes a warranty. Occasionally the cost can be more, especially when you must also replace the cloth.  A move and set up can run $400 to $600 or more. However, sometimes you can find a deal that makes it worth it.

Most  import tables are around the same in quality.  The real questions are who will play on the table, what is the location of the table, and how much are you looking tho spend?    If the table is for kids or is going into a unfinished basement,  laminated table will take more abuse and is generally lower on the cost side as well.  If the table is for more serious players, or is going in a finished or high profile area,  a furniture quality antique style table has a nicer look, but is often more money.

Always get real slate!!  3/4 is okay, but 7/8 or thicker will have a wood backing.  The framed slate is a sign of quality and durability.  Name brands to look for are Olhausen, Connely  or  Peter Vitalie. They  are well made and hold their worth.

  2. Do not ?

  3. I once owned an Imperial and yes it was a very good table in fact my sister still has it

As far as moving cost I wouldnt think the brand would matter they are all a pain to move and set up thats why my advice is always hire a pro to do it

  4. C.L. Bailey is a fine mid-level company and they make a good product.  I haven't had much experience with Imperial.  The last answerer makes many good points about the differences in buying new and used.  Very good advice.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
