We are staying in Austin for a couple nights, where is a decent priced place to stay? Is there any kind of district with restaurants and live music? Thanks!

  1. The super 8 is the first place I stayed in austin, the nightlife is mainly on 6th st but there are bars/clubs throughout downtown. The name sounds cheesy but all and all the place wasnt that bad walking distance to 6th street clean rooms coffee makers and mini fridges hbo ironing boards and at 89 + tax a night the best deal around 6th street Its on 13th and ih35 ,there are cheaper places but if you want to be close to the nighlife and not have to take a cab this is a pretty decent place, also check out guadalupe by the college and south congress or check out the bats on congress bridge every night at about 8ish,every place has live music pretty much on the weekends but 6th st is where most of the action is.

You can also rent a kayak and cruise around lake austin/colorado river for 10 bucks an hour if thats your thing just catch the #4 on congress and head towards austin hs or you can simply follow the trails next to the lake/river and head west its a good 10 min walk depending on your stride but worth it.

  2. hampton inn downtown, marriott convention center, San Jose on S. Congress, Austin Motel

  3. The Austin Motel! It's a local landmark, cheap, and in the middle of all the action.
