I am travelling to Paris on the 28th July and wanted to stay in a ok hotel near chinatown somewhere? I will be coming on the eurostar, so hoping that we dont have to travel too far to get to the hotel. Can anyone suggest a hotel or an area close to downtown chinatown which is reasonbly priced?

Also does anyone know the metro station for chinatown?

Thanks!

  2. There are actually two Chinatowns but you are probably thinking of the one in the 13th arrondissement. The Metro is Porte d'Ivry.

I'm not sure why you want to stay there unless you are doing business but, in any case, Paris is a very compact city and very easy to get around by public transportation so anywhere in the southeast quadrant of the city will be quite close.

To get from the Gare du Nord where the Eurostar arrives to china town you take the RER D marked "Direction: Melun" to the chatelet-Les halles stop and transfer to Metro line 7 marked "Direction: Mairie d'Ivry" which takes you to the Porte d'Ivry stop.

  3. this place is not that close to chinatown ( direct tube to chinatown from bastille, tube is very cheap in paris) but very  very cheap and pleasant !

40 euros single, 50 couple, per night no breakfast ! i spent a very nice  time there !

the place is just in-between the 2 chinatowns.

  4. Hotel Tolbiac is definitely a good choice because there is a direct métro line (line 5) from Gare du Nord (Eurostar station) to Place d'Italie, which is a 5-minute walk to the hotel if you want to avoid métro transfers.

There are several métro stations in the "Chinatown" district: Maison Blanche, Tolbiac (the closest to the hotel), Olympiades, Porte de Choisy, Porte d'Ivry. All are located in the south eastern part of the city:

The Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord in the north of Paris so you can't be both near Chinatown and the Eurostar arrival. But it's only a 20-minute ride on the métro and a 30-minute trip total including walking time.

  5. The only hotel that I know of in the Chinatown located in the "treizième"- and I've never stayed there, for the sake of disclosure, but it seems nice based on the ads I've seen in FUSAC ("France USA Contacts")- is the Hôtel Tolbiac.
