she is on S.S. and has very little to spend. We would like one that will cover 5-8,000 dollars.

  1. Depending on your Mother's wishes, and what you all have talked about; you should be able to spend about 1/2 of your range.

Much depends on where you live and where she would like to be buried.

Visit with the funeral homes in the town/city and tell them what you are doing and your intentions to visit the other funeral homes too.

Start the process by using the phone from work or starbuck's etc. as you probably don't want to be on their phone solicitation list.

It's hard but treat it like buying a car and shopping for the best deal.

It can be done and it's not fun but you will be better for it.  Good Luck....CWW

  2. Life insurance, if obtainable, will be too expensive.  You can purchase prepaid funeral plans.  Check with local funeral homes.

  3. If she's over 40, the most inexpensive plan is to save your own money - otherwise, you'll likely be paying $50 a month (which is $600 a year) for $5,000 of coverage.

  4. Most major agencies (like State Farm) have "final expense" policies - but minimum is usually 10K -

they will usually be the best price - but she'll need to be in fairly good health

If she has medical issues try "UNITED INSURANCE COMPANY OF AMERICA" I worked for them for a year & they sell many many policies that will cover her even if she has medical issues - and the agent will come back every month and collect her payment if she's unable to mail it in
