  1. Haha that sounds like a good pick up line XD

  2. well, if your fat, then you obiusly want a wider board, about 2 feet, and 6 feet tall... there you go perfect

  3. well i would say to go with a board from around 8ft to 10ft board. but you should definetly go to a surfshop and talk to the guys there. they will help you find the right board and equuipment. i hope this helps

  4. i am the big clambouski and i ride a 14' longboard. DON"T YOU BE THINKING THAT A 10' IS LONG. AAARRR GRRRA BBBAAA HIIIISISSS. THE BIG CLAMBOUSKI IS VERY MAD!!!!!!

  5. Well, if you don't know much, and you really want to surf, I suggest that you get a few lessons. Lessons are the best way to start, unless you are a young adult or adolescent with surfing pals who can teach you. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don't want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. There are already way too many dangerous people in the water. A danger to themselves and other surfers. Don't join their ranks.

Go to a real surf shop. The folks there can hook you up with lessons, and even rent you a board to learn on. (and, it's going to be either a longboard or a funboard [mini-mal]) Just work on your basics, and after you feel good, think about buying a board, but don't rush into anything. And, please don't waste your time (or money) buying something on line. Don't be in a rush to buy a board! TRY before you BUY. Rent a variety of types of surfboards, or borrow them from your friends who surf. A surfboard is a big investment.

Be careful of what you read here on line. After I found this site, I figured that I could answer a few questions, and spread the 'good news' of surfing. After you learn to swim and master the ocean, get your REAL advice from a surf shop. However, if they think you are just a 'kook' tourist out to rent a board, you won't necessarily get the best attention.

And if you are curious, yes, I cut and pasted part of this answer, because people keep asking the same question, and the only right answer is always the same. I have been surfing since 1966, and I know to get the right answer from the professionals at the local surf shops where I surf, not a fifteen year old on line.

  6. Like John said, if you don't know which board to buy, you need to speak with someone at your local surf shop. You don't have to get a 10' board. There are Big Guy shortboards that you can learn on which may be better suited for your break. You can learn a lot just by talking to the guys at a local shop.
