Question:

Looking for a motorcycle, could you please point me in the right direction?

Well, earlier I asked about a Royal Enfield only to find that the general consensus seems to be to avoid them. I want a bullet style bike, not a crotch rocket, and would prefer to avoid Harley because I have had some major issues with Ford in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. i started with a buell its made by harley and sounds like one too.  they have several bikes that aren't crotch rockets. if your new to bikes i' start with a blast

  2. How about a Yamaha Raider 1800cc F/I, Best riding bike I have had and power.

  3. look at some indians. those bikes are amazing.

  4. don't know much about the different styles and names but we have a Honda Shadow Spirit-I love it! was always afraid of bikes b4-pray for good weather so we can ride now :O)

  5. victory!

  6. If I were looking for an Enfield Bullet style bike and didn't want an Enfield (or a Harley) I'd seriously consider the Triumphs.

  7. I have an '02 Buell Cyclone. I have had more than 20 bikes over the years from Roadkings to hypersports. I have to say that the Cyclone has been one of the nicest bikes I have ever owned when it comes to being just plain fun. It isn't the fastest bike on the planet, but at 91hp, it is plenty fast for most things. It has been extremely reliable for me. It has needed only one repair since I bought it, and that was a result of something the first owner did to it.

    That's just one possibility though.

If you want a classic looking bike, that Triumph Bonneville is really sharp. I am not sure how much you are looking to spend, but the Ducati retro-bikes are really cool too.

The guy who mentioned Guzzi is right. They are really interesting and unique bikes.

There are also a lot of older Japanese bikes that look a little like the Enfield, but then you are looking at keeping an older bike running. That can be a really fun hobby, but it can be frustrating if all you want to do is ride.

Good luck! You have a lot of great choices out there.

  8. as far as where look on craigs list and ebay.

I would go for a v-twin weather its honda harley yamaha or what have you.

You may even want to look at Motto Guzzi

they have a kind of a sideways vtwin and are alot of fun

  9. Issues with a Ford? You do know they are not the same company? Just because HD lets Ford slap a couple bar and shield on a pickup doesnt make it an HD. If you really like the old school "roadster" look of an Enfield, your only real choice is a Triumph or a HD Sporty. The HD is a 1000 times more dependable than an Enfield anyway. Ford?
