Looking for a new city?

I'm hoping to move out of CA in the near future and have been looking at a few cities, but I was hoping to get a larger idea of what might be available to me.

Looking for:

-Affordable housing

-Employment opporunities/Stable economy (especially important if housing is pricey)

-Low/average crime

-Real winters (snow)

-Four seasons (preferred, not necessary)

-Not a big city

-Would prefer something more rural, but not in deep, deep South

-Welcome to outsiders who are willing to adopt a new culture

-Not CA, NV, or AZ

So far I've looked into Montana and Maine mostly and while both have pros both certainly have cons. Please say either of these, though if they are the best options. What about Virginia? West Virginia?

  1. I would say nashville, but it is just a choice you have to make on your own. However, I found this list and I hope it helps. Good luck.

  2. Boise, Idaho.  That's your spot.  It has all of what you asked for and more.  Small city, good sports, great outdoors, snow and skiing (Bogus Basin Ski Resort), great people, relatively low crime, housing market is good, jobs are there.  Check out Boise.

  3. Kentucky?
