We need a nice restaurant with a historic feel and a seafood offering on the menu, near or around Bostons Freedom Walk area. Found a couple but either they wouldn't host for under 3500.00 or don't have seafood.

My daughter is getting married in New Hampshire and we are all flying in to Boston and want to do some sight seeing and have a rehersal dinner before we drive to NH.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. She got it right...great place.

  2. I would suggest one of the Amerians Oldest Restaurant and it's on the Freedom Trail.

    The Union Oyster House.

  3. Kelly's Landing, in South Boston

  4. I completely agree with the person who answered Union Oyster House.  I'm pretty sure they have private rooms.  It's th eoldest continuously operated restaurant in Boston -- back to revolutionary times -- and one of th highest rated seafood restaurants.  617-227-2750

In case they're too expensive or not available -- here are some others:

Legal Seafood - located in Park Plaza Hotel, one block away fromt he Public Garden/Boston Common.  Don't know if they'll take large groups but here's the number:  617-426-4444

You can also try Durgin Park located in Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall. Also a historic place, has been around a very long time. 617-227-2038

A slightly different take on this may be to look at other options: Try an Italian restaurant in the North End - plenty of Boston ambience, not far from Faneiul Hall.  Check out Cibo's: 617-557-9248 or Lucca's : 617-742-9200

Or you may want to go to the Fish Pier for classic seafood -- many say the best in Boston.  Only thing is it's at the far end of South Boston, so you'll have to drive from downtown. Tons of parking, so that may not be a big issue:  the classic No Name Restaurant (NOT a fancy place) (617) 338-7539  or Anthony's Pier 4 -- 617-482-6262 (nice harbor views)

  5. barking crab...great outdoor seating overlooking the harbor.

    legal seafood...chain but good.

    mccormick and schmick's

    dante in cambridge

charthouse..mty favorite seafood restaurant in boston may be a bit pricey but if it is in your price range then defintely go here. it is my # choice with barking crab as my #2 choice
