Question:

Looking for a place to celebrate graduation...?

I'm really looking for a place off the beaten path. For undergrad graduation, I had my dinner at a historic home that hosted events. I'd like to keep with a similar theme. I initially tried to make reservation at the Vineyard out in New Braunfels, but they were booked with a wedding.

Looking for a nice, interesting place to celebrate this time around, and would prefer for the location not to be a restaurant per se. If it is a restaurant, am really looking for a restaurant with lots of flair and personality, but not overly expensive. I have 8 people coming, and my parents will be footing the bill, so I don't want to place too much of a burden on them, otherwise I'd pick something like the Lodge. Must stay under $30 a person, would prefer to pay between $20-25 a person.

Thanks!!!

  1. If you want a wonderful lunch, try the Guenther House restaurant in the King William district. The house is gorgeous and the atmosphere elegant.  Here is the menu:

For dinner, I would recommend the Grey Moss Inn in Boerne. The prices are higher, but the atmosphere is wonderful.

    The menu is here:

There is also "The Lodge" located in a historic home that used to be the "castle" in Castle Hills:

    Happy graduation!

  2. Aldo's at the corner of Fredericksburg road and Wurzbach...one of my favs!  It's in a rustic looking home, and the inside decor is bright with pale yellows and little details.  My husband and I go and it's about $40 something for us both, including wine for us both :)

I was looking for their website, but couldn't find it.  They're some with reviews, and our experience has always been a good one.  Good luck!

  3. rainforest caffe,chachos,DQ,baskin robbins,marble slab,SONIC<---------must go to<----------MUST...MUST!!!!

  4. Maybe the Oasis Cafe on Medina Lake.  Yes it takes 30 to 45 minutes to get there but it has beautiful views and pretty good food.  My sister got married there several years ago and the management was great to work with.

Another idea would be to try and rent one of the barges on the riverwalk.  Casa Rio has dinner barges but I'm certain it would already be booked.  I envisioning eating at one of the restaurants then boarding the same type "tour" barge that you see going up and down the river but this one would be just for your party and the guide could announce to the people passing by that you had just graduated.  I bet it wouldn't cost too much and it would be something for you to always remember.  By the way congratulations!
