Question:

Looking for a place to stay in County Cavan, Ireland?

I have been searching for awhile for reasonably priced accomodations in or near Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland and am not coming up with much. My travel dates at the moment are fairly flexible but will probably be sometime in Spring 2009...possibly Jan/Feb/Mar.

Other than The Park Hotel are there any other holiday homes or self-catering places available?

If I can't be in Virginia, where would be the next closest place...like would it be easy to travel back and forth between Dublin?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. hi you

log on to the Irish tourist web site dicoverireland.ie this will love your problem

  2. It's a long way from Dublin to Cavan, if you need to be in Dublin, why don't you just stay there? Either way, it'll be the same in terms of price, given that petrol is now about €1.34 on average per litre, and train fares are also quite high.

In the time period you state, I don't imagine you will have any problems finding a place to stay if you just arrive in the town without booking in advance.

Alternatively, you can try searching for accommodation using the Irish telephone directory: www.goldenpages.ie.

If that doesn't work, use the same website to find the town's post office number, and contact them to find out who local provides accommodation to visitors. Local postmasters and post mistresses are probably the most useful social hubs towns and villages in Ireland.
