  1. Don't know about hotels, but craigslist.com Paris has many apartment listings which are very interesting.

  2. Well the George V is certainly nice but then it ought to be considering that the cheapest double costs 720 euros a night.

Something not quite as pricey but still rather nice is the Hotel le Tourville Paris. See their webpage here: http://www.paris-paris.com/hotel_le_tour...

  3. le Georges V is very nice and well located in the city.

  4. La Splendid near the Ecole Militaire, walk to the Eiffel Tower, and Napoleon's grave.  Ask to be on the fifth floor (6)  with a balcony facing the tower and the Arc de Triumphe.

  5. yeah, Rillifane's got it... I've walked past the George V many times and you'd have spend some serious cash.  It's a beautiful place though but only movie stars, politicians, and mafia types stay there...  Not exactly "quaint".  I think the person who suggested this is being silly to be honest.

how much do you want to spend?  My fav travel mag here in Paris is "paris capitale".  They usually list fairly pricey places (but nowhere near the George V):

the boutique hotels are really fun but tend to be very expensive.  Getting a good view does cost though...  So, plan on spending 200 euros a night at least for a nice view.

apartments!  yes, good idea.  vacation rentals are easily found.  They can be cheaper than a hotel and have a great views... try a search on craigslist for 'vacation rentals' in the paris section.  there's a bunch there with pictures!

or you can stay in my apartment overlooking sacre coeur since I'll be in spain in october.  very comfy, nice view, close to everything (but it's in the 19th which is considered by many to be the "no-go" zone - but at least we have our own 'paris plage').
