Okay my school's name is Del Sol, our yearbook's name is called "Solstice", the first year book was called "Once Around the Sun" (because well, duh, one year is once around the sun lol). Ever since the first publications teacher left, the yearbook has gone to c**p. Last years book was called "iDentity" AND THE COVER WAS PURPLE, our colors are gold and red. Any ideas for a theme? Please nothing cheesy like "Got sol?" or anything like that lol. Also this will be the 5th year for our school. Thanks!

  1. Dark side of the Sun.

    Reflections.

    Sunspots.

    Solar Maxima.

    Solar Flare.

    Eclipse.

    My Corona.

    Solar Winds.

  2. Well, Costa Del Sol means "Sunny Coast," so maybe something like, "The Sunshiney Coast." Or something like that. I don't really have any other suggestions, and that's all I cam up with. Sorry, and hope I helped a little. (:

  3. Hmm... well here are some other words that contain "sol", which have meanings that might link to a positive image of a school:

    - solicitude (care or concern)

    - soldiers (in the sense of "soldiering on; working hard") [this may or may not be appropriate, depending on your school's stance on war etc.]

    - solution (a means of solving a problem)

    - consolidate (make stronger or more solid)

But I understand that you want it to have profound meaning - and therefore perhaps relate to the sun somehow? So here are some ideas:

    - Solar Power [a little cheesy, but relates to school spirit? Also topcial]

    - Sun in Splendour [a famous image in heraldry, where the sun is depicted with rays and often a human face]

    - Sunrise [implying rising success]

    - Sunshine [implying shining success]

    - Eclipse [double-meaning: implying that you have eclipsed your past records - or you have eclipsed other schools' achievements etc.]

    - Apollo [the Greek god of sun]

    - Aurora [referring to the beauty and mystery of auroras, which are due to particles from the sun]

    - Luminary [implying inspiration AND a double-meaning: (a person who inspires or influences others OR a natural light-giving body, especially the sun or moon)]

I'm not sure if these are exactly what you're after - but hopefully they might be able to be part of some sort of starting point! Most of them could be titles and/or themes. Also, to clarify their double-meanings, I would recommend having sub-headings with them (e.g. "Eclipse: Over the past 5 years Del Sol has eclipsed all other schools in <insert place> in their number of college admissions" etc.)

    Hope this helps!
