So I absolutely love the sort of sweet, brown colored sesame sauce used in lots of chinese restaurants to make sesame chicken. Wondering if anyone has a recipe or knows where I can buy it?

  1. "This is the SAUCE for Chinese restaurant style sesame chicken and broccoli. This sauce can be poured over fried chicken, or used as a dipping sauce for fried chicken. I emphasize not using too much vinegar because it turns into a sweet-n-sour type sauce. But you do need a 'touch' of vinegar."

    Ingredients

    1 cup white sugar

    1/4 cup cornstarch

    1 cup chicken broth

    1/2 cup water

    1/8 cup white vinegar

    2 tablespoons dark soy sauce

    2 tablespoons sesame oil

    1 teaspoon chile paste

    1 clove garlic, minced

    DIRECTIONS

In a saucepan, mix together sugar and cornstarch. Stir in chicken broth, water, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, chile paste, and garlic. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.

  2. Sauce for Sesame Chicken:

    1/2 cup water

    1 cup chicken broth

    1/8 cup vinegar

    1/4 cup cornstarch

    1 cup sugar

    2 TB dark soy sauce

    2 TB sesame oil

1 tsp chili paste, or more if desired

    1 clove garlic (minced)

    Other:

    2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

    3 1/2 - 4 cups peanut oil for deep-frying

To prepare the sauce: mix together all of the sauce ingredients. Pour them into a small pot and bring to a boil, stirring continuously.

Turn the heat down to low and keep warm while you are deep-frying the chicken.

Just before you are finished deep-frying, bring the sauce back up to a boil.

Place the chicken on a large platter and pour the sauce over. Sprinkle with sesame seeds
