Looking for a romantic book, to be given to someone special!?

I spent the whole day today at bookstore and left there only more confused.

I am looking for a real romantic book, that will make you cry, or gives you that weired feeling in the chest, but at the same time is well written. i.e. NO Nicolas Sparks plz!!

I am a big fan of Kundra and really like his books, but as I am going to give this book as a gift to a girl, I don't think Kundra is appropriate.

all those are good but number 1 are the best!!!

Get her something from Sarah Dessen.

I recommend Just Listen. It's her best in my opinion.

i would say twilight [[if she hasn't already read it]]  its kinda about a love that surpasses all of the never ending obstacles in its way until they have their happily ever after

Is the girl intelligent? As personally I'd be much more impressed by a Milan Kundra book than some chick-lit book.

How about "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami (story of first love), "Silk" By Alessandra Barrico (lyrically written, love at first sight) or "Il Postino" by (witty depiction of passion).

Just another thought, wouldn't it be better if you gave this girl something you loved? She'd be getting to know you better and it sounds like that is the whole point of this exercise.

or 'The Time-Traveler's Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger.

or maybe 'P.S. I Love You' by Cecelia Ahern -

although it's a rather chick-lit kind of novel :)

Well id she is a sentimental type and you have some money to spend you could get her a rare or antique Jane Austen or some lovely poetry by  the Brownings.
