Question:

Looking for a sewing pattern

My mom is planning on making a nativity set (Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, and three Wise men). She has bisque heads and hands and plans on making the bodies. We are looking for patterns for the clothes of these dolls. It would be great if they were online and could just be downloaded for free but we really need something with raglan (sp), not inset, sleeves. I have been looking and I can't find anything. Thanks in advance!!

  1. Raglan sleeves wouldn't be "period" -- something closer to T tunics would be closer to the originals.

  2. A simple T tunic would be more appropriate for the undergarment.  For the over garment, I would recommend a bog coat.  Simple construction, historically accurate, and easy to size.  The site below talks about making fancy ones for adults, but the basic pattern and sizing information would work for dolls.  Just pick an appropriate piece of printed fabric, and ignore all the talk about "pieceing".
