  1. Yeah, DON'T go for aluminum! Someone was using ours and ran the fender into a guard rail and dented it, and it took forever to fix because we had to get a new fender and no one could straighten out aluminum. We sold that one, and bought a used Brender Up, and I love it. My horse love's it too... she used be balky going into the trailer, but now is completely willing to go right in. Make sure you buy something SAFE and comfortable for the horse, even if it's heavy.

  2. make sure its not aluminum. my friends horse kicked through one and had to be put down. go for steel, fiberglass stuff like that.  and also stock trailers are cheeper. and i agree to probably go check it out before you buy or atleast have the owner send more detailed  pictures of the floors, walls. check for rotting wood and sharp edges. all that good stuff =] good luck

  3. I would not buy a trailer without looking at it!!! the biggest thing is to make sure the floor is solid. I have heard of a floor falling out and the horses loosing their legs... NOT COOL!!!. So for your horses sake, please look at the trailer before you buy it.. also, make sure it is not too rusty.. all trailers get rusty.. I have one that is two years old, barely used, and the hinges already have rust.. so it is inevitable. Also make sure it has good wiring!

  4. Things to look for......  solid floors (look underneath as rotting can happen on both sides), free swinging doors (including escape door), proper height and width for your horse and latches that close securely.

You might want to bring someone with more experience with purchase of trailers with you to look at the trailer.

My horses love traveling in a slant load trailer over a straight load.  They also do better in a stock than a straight.

  5. First you want to make sure that the floor boards are in good condition. Second you want to make sure that it is tall enough and wide enough for your horse. Third make sure all the lights and trailer brakes work. That is as inportant the floor boards.

If your in the San Antonio area I got one for $500, its in good condition but we just got a nice 4 horse slant load with living quarters and all. Its nice.
