  1. Dyson is the best vacuum but very expensive, suggest Panasonic Upright vacuum for less expense that is well made and will clean like more expensive vacuums, Panasonic is a quality vacuum and is easy to manuever around the home, light and last and last and is quiet running Also recommend for a little more money a commercial vacuum the ones they use in hotels to clean with although they do not have any onboard tools they last and last and have great suction power, you can purchase these used and sometimes be able to find one free in Freecycle in yahoo groups Good Luck !

  2. I highly recommend a Dyson, but for 1/2 the price you can buy a Kenmore canister vac. My mom has had 2 of them (first one lasted 11 years, the second is 6 and it's still going strong.) They were only $200-250.

You should keep an eye out for sales on both of the above vacs. I bought my dyson floor model on clearance for $200, and it's normally a $400 vacuum. I've had it 4 years now and it still runs as good now as it did when new.

  3. The best vaccum on the market is the Dyson but its not cheap.  I spent $500 on ojne a few eeks back but my wife says its the best she has ever used and I agree.

  4. I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and it does a great job. I got it for a reasonable price at WalMart. Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy and said it outcleaned the Dyson ones. It works so well and I wouldn't trade it for another one. The suction is great and there's a switch to turn off the beater bar so you can vacuum any type of flooring. Good luck!
