Looking for a winter driving course near Albany, NY?

I'm moving to Albany, NY next year. I would like to take a course to gain some confidence with driving in winter conditions (snow, ice, skidding, etc.). Does anyone know of any driving courses and schools available in that area?

Also, I am looking for suggestions for a new car that would be suitable for NY. Currently I drive a ford focus, and it is awful in snowy conditions.
