I want to be able to see the baby and I'm scared that they won't be able to get any good pictures. does it work to drink something with sugar or caffeine to get the baby moving around before an ultrasound? also can you think of anything else that I should do or something that you recommend that I do before going? It's a lot of money and I don't want it to get wasted.

  1. Hi..I just had a 3d/4d ultrasound done in June...I was told to drink 100 oz of water a day for 3 days prior to the ultrasound to get better pictures..

I got great pictures..my baby girl is now 15 days old and looks just like her ultrasound pics! I would try eating something just before you go in for the ultrasound...it'll help make the baby active and help in getting good pics. If you want I can email you a link to my ultrasound pics and real life pics...hope this helps...

  2. I'm due November 18th and I went for a 3D Ultrasound last weekend. I ate and drank about an hour and a half prior to the ultra sound and guess what still sleeping. She would not move her head, she was using my placenta as a pillow. The tech shook my stomach, made me roll side to side a million times and made me go to the washroom. Let me tell you she was quite uncooperative! Needless to say i'm going again this sunday coming up, hopefully she won't be sleeping and will cooperate! They didn't make me pay for the session that she didn't cooperate in either (just a note). Just try eating and drinking...it may or may not work! Good luck, I hope you get some decent pictures!

  3. I've heard the orange juice thing too.  Maybe play some fun music to get your baby "dancing" around in there if your baby reacts to that.  Even if your baby is sleeping you will still have great pictures that last a lifetime!  Enjoy it!

  4. A little caffeine or sugar generally will get them moving--just remember to drink it about 1 1/2 hours before your appointment.  However, most 3d/4d places will bring you back if they can't get a good picture that day, so don't stress!  If the baby isn't cooperating, you probably are not out of all that money

  5. I loved my 3D ultrasounds!  They are so amazing!  Eat something before you go, and maybe some OJ would be good.  Bring a snack, in case baby decides to be still.  Have a full bladder, but not one that is going to make you so uncomfortable you won't be able to enjoy the experience.

  6. drink lots of liquids ...

when I had my 4D the baby was hiding behind his arms so my doctor shook my stomach to wake him up and that made him angry!! he kept kicking and we got alot of video of him kicking and frowning haha! sooo cute!!

Good luck~ and dont be nervous cos I think they can feel that and maybe your baby will hide ... so try to relax ~ :)

  7. my technician told me to drink 1/2 cup of coffee 30 minutes before the ultrasound...  but my boys STILL slept through it!  *in the beginning of my pregnancy i worked at a coffeeshop and drank TONS of espresso before i knew i was prego...  i blame it on that*  lol...  gl

  8. my doc said to drink Orange juice. and make sure your bladder is really full.  Don't pee before you go, it makes it easier to see.  At least that is what the ultrasound lady told me  and her official title just escaped me....sorry.
