I grew up in New York and New Jersey, but moved to Austin, TX almost 5 years ago. I'm used to cooler weather, beautiful Autumns and normal seasons. My boyfriend, who has lived in Texas his entire life, is used to the weather here, but wouldn't mind a change. We are looking for a decent sized acreage (10 or so acres) in a town with a nice climate...warm summer with cool winters where snow is probable and where Autumn actually exists. I've been looking into New Mexico, but I think it's a little too dry for us. I can't handle 100 degree summers and 65 degrees on Christmas anymore! What do you suggest?

  1. I live in southeast tennessee the weather here is not to bad,and changes frequently.last winter it would snow on monday and be 50 degrees on wednesday.

the summers can get a little muggy especially in late july and early august. We usually have a nice fall

  2. North Carolina is the best state in the country for weather and many other things, you could have a look in the mountains near Asheville, beautiful climate, 70's in summer, 4 seasons, charlotte and Raleigh are about 10 deg hotter and pretty humid in August, but nice the rest of the year. In all of NC, you have a slight chance of snow and we get 1-2 snows per year in Raleigh, but in the mountains you will get more.

  3. I've lived in Texas and Arkansas my whole life. The humidity is CRAZY!!! My hubby joined the ARMY and they moved us to Ft. Riley, Kansas. The climate is great. More snow than I have ever seen in my LIFE! But my neighbors are from PA and they think the winters are mild. But they also think the summers are awful! If only they knew!! The warmest it has been in KS is about 90 with very little humidity and a nice constant breeze. I would live there forever if we could. Even with the crazy storms. There have only been two bad storms since we have lived there. But no tornadoes yet!!! LOL!!

  4. Try Flagstaff AZ it very nice, cool summers, snow in the winter but not tons of snow, just a great place i used to live there, but now im stuck in SA cuz the military, i cant wait to go back!

  5. Asheville, NC...the new Austin. Funky, cool place to live...liberal leanings, in the mountains with four distinct seasons yet no extreme heat or humidity. You can pick up some nice acreage outside of town still at reasonable prices....the Brevard area is nice, as is the Boone area to the north.
