My family (3 adults+ 2 kids) will be in Ireland (7/24-8/8), but can't find mid-range accomodation in the southwest. Would like to stay for one week at a farmhouse or near beach access, or anything charming near Dingle, Killkenny, Kinsale, or Cork.

  1. Hi,

www.ireland.ie is a really good site, it has links to all sorts of accommodation from hostels to hotels, I think you should be able to find something there.

  2. To be honest, I'd say you've left it a bit late. However, you could always try hostelworld.com, or just get in touch with the Irish Tourist Board. It's high season then, and it will be more expensive, especially as you've left it so late.

Kilkenny is in the South East and nowhere near a beach. You could try the Waterford coast though, say around Helvick or Ardmore, or close to Youghal. East County Cork is a good place too.

    Best of luck.

  3. That's the busiest week of the year, so you have quite a job ahead of you! Try this place - www.rainbowhosteldingle.com

it's a private hostel, they have private double rooms, family rooms, etc. A lovely spot, really clean, just a short walk from Dingle town and very reasonably priced. Private hostels are mostly quite good (this may surprise you!), and you'll save a lot of money by having access to a kitchen to make lunches etc. The facilities at the Rainbow are great, they have a huge kitchen (with a piano!), big garden with patio furniture etc.

Kinsale is really popular and (therefore) expensive. Try looking around Bantry / Schull / Barley Cove , or Rosscarbery (lovely beach but tiny tiny village).

best of luck, hope this helps. Get your booking made as soon as possible or you'll be sleeping on the beach!! :)
