We are in the process of starting a building project at our soccer fields. Does anyone know where I could find blueprints of various styles? We are looking for restrooms and concession stands. The coaches wish list is to have a second story for announcers.

  1. This will sound strange, but it might be worth a try.

Search for plans for pole barns. Yes, pole barns.

You will find a large number os web sites listed that are colleges with agriculture programs. A whole lot of these sites have a hugh selection of plans for different things-houses, sheds, bbq pits, greenhouses, boat houses, etc.  All for free or very little cost.

Email these programs and ask them. They might have an idea.

Also write to some city parks departments

That or find a soccer lover who can draw them.

  2. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you really need to hire a local architect for this one.

The details will vary based upon what state you are in, but you will have to have permits for this project as it is a public facility.  This would be classified as a commercial structure, which usually requires a more stringent premit process than a private structure.  Permits will require blueprints, including a site plan that shows the grade (slopes) of the area, utility locations, etc.  You will also have to have occupancy capacities calculated and other engineering services.

Often people will get the idea to find something they like and have an architect modify it to save some money.  This doesn't work because blueprints and designs are copyrighted works.  Note the statement about copying or modifying at the bottom of the plans linked in another answer.

You may want to look at some others to build your own wish list, but don't take one of these drawings to your architect as it may cause some problems.  Not to say you couldn't do a rough sketch if you see a layout you like -- if it is your idea an architect could certainly take that and work out the details, but it probably will not save you money.
