  1. I would check out the room rentals in the area on the web.

I have done this before, not in the Vermont area, but in other areas, and it has worked out well for me.

    Give it a try.

    Have fun!

  2. Bolton Valley Ski  Resort by Burlington Vermont is pretty small but very nice trails. You can probably find some pretty cheap hotels/inns up there.

  3. yea boi. there is a place in stowe, vermont. for aomething like 15-20 dollars a night. and its at the base of the mountain.

  4. There is a hostel in Stowe...The Round Hearth. It's owned by a guy named Grady. I don't have the number. It's youth geared but he may open it up to adults mid-week. He also (used to) own the Red Fox which served Smuggs.

Grandpop's or something like that serves the Jay Peak area, but it's on the west side of Jay so you have to drive over the gap to get to the lifts.

There are a bunch of discount hotel chains in the South Burlington and Williston area which puts you into striking range for Stowe, Smuggs, and Bolton. (I'm looking for place there now for a trip I have end of this month.)

There's not much "cheap" around Mad River and Sugarbush. At least not that I know of.

Rutland also has a lot of cheap hotels and chains. We stayed at the Pico/Killington Motor Lodge last year in Mendon for $50 a room, plus breakfast. There are Econo Lodges and Quality Inns in the area as well. Ther is also a hostel run by a non-profit group that also owns the Back Home Again Cafe in Rutland. It is open in the summer for backpackers, look up their number and call them about winter availability.

Sun Lodge at Bromley has well priced ski and stay packages...Last I looked I think it was $60 for a room, ticket, and breakfast.

Ludlow (Okemo), Stratton, and West Dover (Mt. Snow) are not particularly known for discount lodging. I lived close to all of them and even looking for hotels for other people over the years I've never found a secret hole-in-the-wall place....plenty of places to camp though...but not ideal winter arrangements by any means.
