  1. My daughter made a castle in Brownies out of paper towel and toilet paper tubes.  They positioned the tubes together vertically and put glue in between.  They then stretched a rubber band around the whole thing to hold it in place until the glue dried.  They made little construction paper cones for roofs on the tubes making then into castle towers, and used makers to draw doors and windows.

    Have fun!

  2. Our group made snow globes out of old baby food jars - fill them with Caro syrup, blue food coloring, and glitter, seal the lid with Elmer's glue and shake shake shake!!

  3. In order to recycle bits of paper, string, and crayons we make mozaics in our 3 year old room.  Every class has art projects that leave small pieces of construction paper left over.  If you make anything requiring string you can have pieces from 1/2 inch to 5 inches left over.  And every class has small bits of crayons that are too small for the kiddies to handle.  This requires a little prep...shave the crayons into little slivers.  Use a craft type bead keeper to keep the colors seperated.  Now...take what ever shape you are working on that week or even an outline drawing of a letter.  paint a thin coat of glue inside the lines of the drawing and let the children place these items onto the glue.  Have them keep the items inside the lines.  you would be amazed at the creativity of some of these youngsters as they use the paper string and shavings to decorate their drawings.  We have a printing shop that donates all their "extra" sheets to us so we actually only need to purchase glue for these projects.  Everything else is recycled.

  5. make a mobile out of milk carton caps and decorate them with glitter or paper or paint. use a coat hanger from the dry cleaners to hang it up.
