Do you know how long it takes to get to get from either Hartford or Stamford CT to the Newark NJ area, during morning and evening commute times? I can mapquest it, but I want to know with traffic, the real time.

Thanks.

  1. Everyone is right, take the train. The traffic on the cross Bronx expressway leading to the George Washington bridge can be a nightmare. Also traffic on I-95 in Ct, from Bridgeport to the New York state line can be slow.Stanford to Newark could take at least 4 hours during the morning rush. Add another hour from Hartford.

  2. It is better to take MNRR train and New Jersey Transit.

    I-95 is very busy highway.

If you don't have E-Z Pass, you will be get into very long line on cash, especially George Washington Bridge & Lincoln Tunnel.

Also, tolls operated by MTA and Port Authority of New York & New Jersey fares are increasing.

  3. It's probably easier to take Amtrak and avoid the traffic.   Driving times will be wildly inconsistant and varied depending on traffic, which could be good or bad.

  4. From Stanford to Newark used to take me about 3hrs
