  1. 1900 United States Federal Census

    Name: Edmond Porter

Home in 1900: Polksville, Hall, Georgia

    Age: 14

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886

    Birthplace: Georgia

    Relationship to head-of-house: Grandson

    Father's Name: Thomas

    Race: White

    Household Members: Name-- Age

Annie Whisenant-- 75 ( Birth Year: abt 1825;Head of household)

Thomas Whisenant-- 58 (Birth Year: abt 1842; Annie's  Son )

Thomas Porter --18 (Birth Year: abt 1882; Annie's Grandson)

    Edmond Porter --14

Believe it or not, I looked on EVERY site I rely on, and this is the ONLY listing for any of the names you mentioned. But, at least, it shows Edmond  & Thomas Porter as the grandsons  of Annie.

  2. I found a Edmond Carl Porter's draft registration form, it says he was born on May 7, 1885.  It looks sorta like it mentioned a Mary L. Porter but I'm not sure, the image seems pretty blurred.

It's hard to figure out, but Annie Whisenant shows up in the 1870 census with Thomas, Adam, Ephraim, Frances, Nancy, Mary, Jefferson & Rinda Whisenant.

All that the 1900 census says is that Annie Whinsenant is the head of the house, Thomas Whinesant is her son, and Edmond & Thomas Porter are her grandsons, but I bet you know that already.  This all came from Ancestry.com

On familysearch.org there is an Anna Lee Whinsenant, born about 1826, listed as the wife of John Nicholas Whinsenant, married Sept. 1, 1848.

You can always try to the county vital records to learn a bit more.

It's not much to go on, but do you have any more information? There is a good chance the little I found might end up as dead ends, but it could at least give you some clues.

  3. What are the dates for your grandfather and Annie?

    Where did they move from?

in 1870  the following lived in the house next to Annie and family

    Age in 1870: 27

    Birthplace: Georgia

    Home in 1870: Lumpkin, Georgia

    Race: White

    Gender: Female

    Post Office: Dahlonega

    Household Members: Name Age

    Kisiah Porter 27

    Mary Porter

  4. Hi,

Don't normally frequent yahoo answers but was surfing and saw your question.

I personally can't help but use another forum which is specific to folk that are interested in genealogy.

I really recommend you have a look at it and register.  You'll be amazed at the help you'll get.

I've used it more for Scottish ancestry but the whole community is really friendly - we'll go out of our way to help.

I've met folk in Oz, Canada and USA that are related to me.  I'm still in Scotland.
