  1. Put this question to your local library. they will definitely be able to help you with all the advice necessary.

  2. myheritage.com is always really been a good site to search. as long as you know your grandfathers' last name, or your mothers surname on that side, you can track down most any family. It keeps track for you if you get a special program downloaded to your computer! good luck!

Most other sites charge money I've found.. so this site is very helpful and is free! It provides you with a free 'website' to make your own family tree on as well. You may even find people related to you on the site.

  3. Google his last name and Czechoslovakia and see how many variations of spelling there are.  With all your information go to http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/f...  Use all search combinations that are allowed and see what you get.  Cindy's List at http://www.cyndislist.com/ has everything you will need.  Keep a notebook with every note you take and never tear out a page.  You may loose interest sometime and regain it years later, so hold onto everything and always share.  Sharing always seems to get paybacks.
