  1. Do you mean you lost your family?

  2. go to eastern europe

  3. There are only two sets of resources that you can access from the US. The first is a great work-in-progress called the Poznan Marriage Indexing Project. The translations are done by volunteers from LDS parish registers. It's the only quasi-comprehensive Polish genealogy site. But they're not even half done, so you need to be patient with them. I will say, though, that I have found the marriages on every one of my Polish great-great grandparents on there, so it is a very valuable site.

The only other resources we have are "traditional research", meaning we can look at LDS films, EllisIsland.org, Castlegarden.org, Germans to America (an encyclopedic indexing set at the library), and the ever-hopeful INS records at the National Archives. If you're lucky, they came through Ellis Island and either their last town of residence or birth town is listed. If they didn't come through Ellis Island, then we hope they applied for citizenship after 1906 when immigration laws changed and the INS was created. Those records are kept by the National Archives and are open to anyone doing research.
