Best thing to do is google the name of the lake with the words Fishing Report after it.

ex: New Melones Lake Fishing Report

That should get you some info. It's best though to wait till you're about to go to do it. Fishing can vary drastically from week to week so you need the most up to date info.

Fish the bluffs on either side of Bull Creek it is where the fish are released and move to the bluffs and they have shelves on them and that is good.
