Looking for free sites to look up ansistors + family?

hi can anyone tell me if they know any free sites to look up family history without having to pay thanks

Find your local library's site online and see if they offer HeritageQuest which gives you access to the census, historical books, etc.  You can use this from your home...many libraries have a library edition of www.ancestry.com but you need to view this at the library.

www.rootsweb.com is free. You might just find someone there who is already researching the same families as you are. There are also messageboards there where you can ask questions about a specific surname or location.

Gencircles is interesting and free. You do need to watch out for misinformation,but it has given me many leads and filled in some holes in my own info. It's worth a try.

www.familysearch.org  is the only completely free site I use, it's excellent.
