  1. Holborn and Picadilly aren't that close to each other really so are you looking for places in the west end? In between the two areas is soho.

What is the occasion? I.e do you want somewhere posh and expensive? Or just good food?

For relatively inexpensive, reliable italian food there are a number of Carluccio's restaurants around inc. on Market Place.

Maletti is a fabulous quality pizza place in Soho on Noel street but it's not really a sit down place, more take away office lunch.

Zilli has 2 places in soho - one on dean one on broadwick i think - slightly more expensive than Carluccios - can be good, can be poor.  Good, lively restaurants too.

For more expensive fare there is Semplice on Blenheim st in mayfair which is meant to be excellent but i've not been.

Equally Locanda Locatelli on portman square is excellent but expensive.

The very best italian food in london - in my opinion - is Zafferano but it is further away from the west end in belgravia. It is expensive but top rate.

Also you could try Olivo, Olivetti and Olivomare which are a trio of Sardinian sister restaurants near Victoria. Olivo is very good, Olivetti is more basic pizzas but good and not expensive, Olivomare is new but higly rated.

Cipriani in the west end is where all the celebs go these days but it is very expenisve and food not meant to be all that.
