Looking for good cruelty-free cleaning products, etc.?

Question

I'm in the transition of switching to all cruelty-free products in my home (or as close as I can get) and I need some suggestions. I've been looking through the lists at caringconsumer.com, but it's difficult to know which household products are ok. Plus, I'd love to get started with the ones that others have found to be the best. :)

I am all set with make-up and personal products like that. But I would love some suggestions about which household cleaners, laundry detergents, toothpastes, and men's products (for my husband) have the best track records.

I am not a vegan, but I would love to support the use of completely animal free products if at all possible.

Thank you in advance for your advice! I can't wait to get all my other products replaced and to write my letters to the companies I've left.

I personally love seventh generation.  They seem to work the best so far out of everything I've tried (cleaning stuff).

Also, check out arbonne for men's products (and your personal products)

I personally use JASON products, they and kiss-my-face and a few others are sold at my local Meijer! Yay for me!

There are different categories and subcategories that make it easier to find the type of cruelty-free products you're looking for.

For household cleaners and detergents, I use Method products. This company has never tested on animals and is also environmentally friendly. http://peopleagainstdirty.com/

Ecover is a great company.  They make all kinds environmentally safe cleaners, from dish soap to "hard" cleaners and it's all safe and natural.  Also, Third Generation has a great line of products from recycled paper products (like paper towels and toilet paper) as well as other household products.  Enjoy your new guilt free earth friendly environment-- congrats!  :D

Kiss My Face has toothpastes, deodorant, ect. The scents are all really nice smelling too, especially the peach scented hand soap.

Hi, if you are in the UK, the co-ops cleaning products/deodorants/toothpaste etc are fantastic, and approved by the BUAV(British union of anti-vivisection) and they are just brought out a new environmentally friendly range which is also brilliant!

There is a company called Astonish, once again, no animal testing or ingredients and highly recommended, they do an enormous range! These are found in hardware shops and usually the £ shops!

Ecover are no longer approved by the Vegan Society due to the fact the company was found to be testing on water fleas and using blood from farmed rabbits.
