If you really mean southwest Scotland there are a couple of lovely courses round Dumfries or further west Stranraer is OK, Port Patrick is a cracking cliff top course and the Hotel there does good packages. But the really classy course around there is Southerness, while directly opposite in Cumbria Silloth is as good as it gets. good Luck
