I am in the Saginaw, Tx area and was wondering if there are programs out there like home schooling groups? Basically I would like my kids to be home schooled but I have to work so I did not know if other parents who home school take on other kids to help out? I know there are online courses but I'm not sure how well that would work with my kids being young.

  1. Yes, there are groups both large and small.

Check with your local library branch's bulletin board or local YMCA's bulletin board.

Yahoo it or Google using "home schoolin groups + saginaw + texas."

    Good luck,

  2. Online schools for grades K-6 will still need a parent present as the primary teacher.  Not only that, but you'd need an adult home with them anyway.

There are very few HS'ing parents who take on other children.  Most of the ones I know of only teach relatives.

You can always do school in the evenings and on weekends.  No one says it has to be 9-3 like B&M school.

There are HS'ing groups all over the place, and co-ops, too.  That won't help you with what your looking for other than possibly gaining some contacts.  Most co-ops are only one day, or one half day per week.  HS groups aren't there to be a replacement for a school.  They are there for support, encouragement, exchange of ideas, field trips, etc.

Do a 'net search for the TX HS association and go from there.  Or search Yahoo Groups for HS groups near you.

  3. To locate home school organization in your state, go here:

    http://www.hslda.org/orgs/default.asp

    and click on your state.

Just because you work doesn't mean that you can't homeschool your children.  One of the best parts about homeschooling is that you can set your own schedule.  You can homeschool during the afternoons/evenings and/or on weekends.    We homeschool and I work full time.

  4. I have a nice site for u where see all types of HomeSchooling Study Information. Or Use search on this.

  5. Everyone has to work, that includes homeschool moms.  If you want someone else to educate your children send them to public or private school.
