Please be careful before taking any online advice that says learn for free or work for us. There are a zillion home based business scams out there.

Do you have experience in accounting? Are you brave enough to work up a business plan. The Small Business Administration will help you. I would ask them to help me get my homework done and then go to a bank. The SBA will also offer some loan guarantees.

I started my own bookkeeping business about 2 years ago. I did it by myself doing mailings, advertising on accounting websites, etc. You will have to do some on-site work at clients' offices, but there is quite a bit that can be done from home.
