  1. Honestly?  I would suggest reading a fieldwork methods book on your own, go out and do some observing, and then write about it. Anthropology is something that you can most definitely study on your own once you have a direction.  You can ask a professor at a local college, or even on line to suggest some readings for you.

  2. try bold street liverpool at about 1 am any weekend

  3. Open University seems the obvious choice but as I'm just coming to the end of a social science degree and have had many anthropology units, I would definitely suggest doing a course rather than just self- teaching. Some of the apsects can be very abstract (im doing the anthropology of Human Emotions at the moment- VERY confusing!). There are also methodological issues and ethical issues and the basic aspect of ethnocentricism- basically reviewing everything with a personal bias- very hard to lose it!

Some key texts that we used include:

Small places, large issues: An introduction to social and cultural anthropology (Eriksen)

The Anthropology of Europe (Goddard et al)

An introduction to theories of popular culture (Strinati)

    The anthropology of Religion (Bowie)

    Good luck- it's fascinating!
