Looking for housecleaner/babysitter in South SF Bay area?

Just wondering how to go abut fniding a nice woman to work 12-15 hours per week in our home doing cleaning and watching my son for a few hours? We are moving there and don't know where to look. I don't want to use one of the professional service companies because of their high fees, plus they pay $20-$25 per hour, which I think is high. Any sources or recommendations?

  1. First of all don't use merry-maids, they are undependable, too expensive for their quality, and sometimes don't show up. Try getting refrences from friends or family and try hiring a family operated business.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. You can post an ad on http://sfbay.craigslist.org/  it's an online site for the bay area and it's free.  Just state what you're looking for and people will respond.  Good luck.

  3. Place a "free" wanted ad below for best results.  Of course, if you get some inquiries, make sure there are plenty of references.

  4. There are many websites that provide this service. Normally free to sitters and paid for parents or free to both. www.mybabysitter.com is one that my wife and I have used before and found a couple of good sitters.

One word of advice - if you do join, make sure you find the sitter BEFORE you need them and interview them well in advance to be comfortable with them. We sometimes ask them to come in for a few hours for free / little money once while my wife is at home so she can see how they interact...
