Question:

Looking for inexpensive Component & Audio to HDMI mixer?

I have a TV from my wall with only an HDMI cable connected to it. I have one or more sources of Component Video & Audio cables (e.g. Cable box, DVD, etc). I am looking for a box that would take as input one set of component video connections and an audio connection and would give me one HDMI output. Obviously I want the HDMI to have both video and audio signals encoded in it.

I'm looking for a cheap solution as I know there are receivers out there for close to $1000 that would do this, but I don't need the box for anything other than this mixing function.

Thanks.

  1. I highly recommend to save your money.  Video quality is as good as the source. Taking component, digitizing into HDMI and feeding it to a TV will not give you any better signal than feeding component directly. The extra digitazation will probably make it worse.

So, buy a simple "component" switch (multiple inputs, one output) and you will have all you need.

  2. I googled "component video to HDMI" and found this...

    and this list ...
