Looking for info on John Wesley Farmer, LaHabra, CA?

I am doing the family history- My oldest child(born 1975) father is John Wesley Farmer (birth 06/04/1953). We have not had contact since 1976 but had heard he was in prison in 1985 or so. His Mom's name was Wanda Pasley Hathorn( I know she remarried , widowed but can't remember her names, sister- Bobbie-(married to Larry Leiva and daughter Star) and brother Gene. Larry and Gene went to Vietnam-got strung out on heroin and brought the bad habit home. John became involved and I left. I went back after he was born to try and work it out but it was crazier than ever. I last saw John in lock-up at the mental hospital on suicide watch. We were all living in LaHabra,CA. I can't let this go on anymore now that I have started doing geneaology it needs to be correct. I married and had more 4 children-it was never an issue-he was 8 when married into a wonderful family who treated him as their own from the start. Any help would be so greatly appriciated

I suggest getting copies of the obituaries for the three people  John, Wanda, and Larry.  They would tell you who the survivors are and might give a clue as to their whereabouts.  I am so sorry for what you had to go through.

You really need to find a member of his family, and get them to direct you to him.  There really isn't a better way to find someone who is still alive. . . . unless you can hire a private detective.
