I can trace his arrival in Nova Scotia in 1845 approximately. I live in USA and am unsure where his family lived in England. I found some records of several Robert Bowrons in Durham. Would love to meet some cousins.

  1. I have had a look on Ancestry.co.uk, and there are absolutely loads of Robert Bowron's. There are many people also researching the Bowron family tree all over the world, and many researching the Bowrons who settled in Nova Scotia. There are also some from Australia who are researching a branch of the family who came from the Durham area who settled in Norfolk UK and then went on to Australia.

I think it might be a good idea if you signed up to Ancestry UK that way you can find things moreeasily for you, and also contact some of the people with mutual ancestors.

    Good luck.

  2. Best I can suggest is you contact the Northern Echo and ask them to run a feature. Bowron isn't a common name, so you have a chance.

  3. Looking at the 1841 census for England there are at least 5 Robert Bowrons listed, if you know some other information like date of birth, occupation, family members etc you should have a reasonable chance of working out which Robert is yours.
