Question:

Looking for location, location, location...?

I'm opening a SMALL restaurant in central Denver. It's going to need to have a comfy vibe and an area condusive to foot traffic. Neighboring nightlife and easy accessability would be a plus. Unfortunately; it's going to have to be a joint that's already been a joint. We can't afford Grill with over-head fans and a brand new grease trap, so I leave it to you fellow Denverites. Do you know of a bad place that went out of business in a good location, or a place that was maybe a little ahead of it's time, location-wise?

  1. I don't know a specific address, however you should check out the West Washington Park area... near Wash, Pearl, Logan, etc., and Alameda. That neighborhood has a LOT of foot traffic and the zoning seems right. Its a younger, laid back, uber friendly neighborhood with not nearly enough yummy food stops (esp now that Handle Bar is under new management, blech).

Its not so chic, but I do know there are a few places open for lease on 13th between Logan and Emerson (on Cap Hill, sort of in the punk district, but you know the Hill, its quite diverse).

Palomino went under in LoDo at 1515 Arapahoe, but I think they may have already re-leased. You should check, though, as all equipment is still in the unit.

    Good luck.

  2. KT had some good suggestions. Also watch the Friday Rocky Mountain News Restaurant column. They sometimes have restaurant closings listed

Good luck with your new venture
