Sorry, but you must have clicked the wrong section, as this is the motorcycle RACING questions.

The best advice I can give you is you to post this question again.

You would get a better response in....

    "Cars & Transportation"> "Motorcycles"

  3. Is it a two or four stroke? 400cc is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy to fast for you!!! Thats a racing bike. You need to find a 125 or 250 at most!!!! Check the local race tracks, they have links to sites where people are selling their used bikes.  $6000 is an awful lot too, I just bought myself a honda 150r for 4200....brand spanking new!!!! Keep looking dude...

  4. Six grand sounds like alot for a first bike...Check around a little more....Check the bike out first..Sit on it see how it feels..Never get talked into something that dont feel right...There are alot of nice bikes around for 2 to 3 thousand...I would do that first just to make sure you really want a bike in the first place...Dont spend all the money in the first buy....

  5. I think that as a beginner you would be better off with a 4 stroke 250cc than a 400cc.  $6000 can buy you a 250cc that would be close to new, but as roughneck has stated it is a lot to spend when you are only just begining and don't know if it is something you will really want to keep doing.  Nearly everyone starts out on a second hand bike to see if they really are interested but spending that much is probably not smart.  You may also find yourself overpowered by the bike and then loose interest.

Don't buy the first bike you see as it really is a buyers market when it comes to second hand bikes as many people especially those that race upgrade every year and it is extremly difficult to sell the bikes.

So perhaps even go to dealership and sit on a few bikes to see how they fit and feel when you are on them and then look for similar older versions in the classified.  Take someone who knows bikes with you to check the bike over as there can be a lot wrong that you may not notice.  Then make sure you bargain with the seller and if you miss that bike don't worry as there is always another one for sale.
